Light a Candle
The Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations mourns the death of its former Permanent Representative, Ambassador Antonius “Tono” Eitel (1933–2017). He passed away on Sunday, June 25, at his home in Muenster, Germany. Ambassador Eitel headed Germany’s Mission to the U.N. in New York from 1995 to 1998 and represented his country on the U.N. Security Council during the 1995/96 term. Tono Eitel will be remembered as an accomplished diplomat, eminent legal scholar, collector of rare Mesopotamian artifacts and great humanist.
